Hove police have warned motorists their cars will be towed away if they don't stop double-parking.
Officers are carrying out night-time blitzes and handing out tickets which warn wayward drivers not to park illegally.
Motorists have been waking up to find yellow notices on their windscreens saying: "Warning: You are illegally parked. Next time you will face a £30 fine."
The crackdown is taking place throughout Hove, including Lansdowne Place, Medina Villas and Osborne Villas.
Superintendent Graham Cox said: "One of the reasons we do this is so we can show the public that we are in the streets at night-time, and hopefully by doing this we can stop other crime as well.
"There has been an improvement since the initiative started but it is one of those wars we are never going to win because some people are always prepared to take a chance.
"If people do not take any notice of the initial notices we put on, then they will get a parking ticket and if they still ignore it they will be towed away."
Town centre CCTV cameras will be used to monitor parking in main streets including Western Road, Blatchington Road, Boundary Road and Church Road.
Seven traffic wardens, supported by police, are enforcing the regulations.
CCTV footage will be used as evidence if illegally parked drivers decide to challenge their tickets.
The crackdown will continue indefinitely.
