We were told how important it was for everyone to fill in the Census form to help with forward planning.

However, on looking at it, I was saddened and outraged. People under 15 years and over 75 years of age were told to "proceed to question 36".

No more questions were relevant. To me, this means anyone over 75 years of age is viewed as being of no consequence.

People are living longer. Many are healthier and more active. Thousands of people in their seventies and eighties do considerable amounts of voluntary and other forms of work.

It seems the Government has no interest in their mode of travel or other needs.

Maybe anyone over 75 years of age should refuse to vote in the forthcoming election or at least find a party interested in older people.

On the one hand, I am ignored. Because I am over 75, it is assumed I will sit at home and not need a bus to help me get to my place of work or pleasure.

On the other hand, more and more appeals flood through the letterbox - these people do not worry I am over 75 years of age.

People over the age of 75 have a part to play in their community.
