A man had two rings which had been in his family for more than 100 years valued at The Antiques Roadshow - then dropped them on the way home.
Robert Hurst believes the rings fell from his pocket after he visited the Dolphin Centre in Haywards Heath last week.
The gold rings, one of which has a single pearl and the other a mixture of diamonds and pearls, were valued at £700.
Mr Hurst, from Haywards Heath, said: "I suppose they are not worth that much but they are family heirlooms and have enormous sentimental value.
"It really is very upsetting because they do not actually belong to me. I was getting them valued for one of my relatives."
Mr Hurst is appealing to local jewellers to look out for the rings.
Anyone who believes they may have information should contact Haywards Heath police on 0845 6070999.
