Murray Goodwin has praised the efforts of the Sussex groundstaff after celebrating his Hove debut with a century.
The Zimbabwean made 108 against Middlesex in the Benson & Hedges Cup last Friday.
That wasn't too much of a surprise con-sidering his early season form, but the pace and bounce in Derek Traill's first pitch since he took over as the county's curator certainly was.
"Derek and his team deserve every credit for that wicket after all the problems they have had during the winter," said Goodwin.
"It was a beautiful cricket wicket. The ball came onto the bat but if bowlers put their back into it they could get some help as well.
"The groundstaff have had a really hard job in the last few months, but they have done a great job which the players certainly appreciate."
