At long last, a local Labour MP has shown an interest in representing his constituents who daily have to tolerate the masses of travellers that continue to descend upon our parks and leisure areas.
David Lepper doesn't need to arrange meetings with the Government, police or any other bodies.
He should tell the ruling Labour councillors on Brighton and Hove City Council, which include his wife, to scrap their "travellers' strategy" that encourages travellers to our city.
There are no legal or illegal travellers' encampments in Bournemouth, Portsmouth or Southend. Those places do not have this welcoming travellers' strategy.
We have one official travellers' site, which is one more than most other towns and cities.
We have done our bit and the council and police should now act in the interests of the residents who pay their local and national taxes by immediately moving travellers from all unofficial encampments in our city as soon as they arrive.
-Coun Geoffrey Theobald, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Brighton Kemp Town
