It would be disappointing indeed if the civic activists concerned with specific issues (such as re-development of the King Alfred) were to be used in order to promote the fortunes of any one political party by trashing others, as Warren Morgan (Opinion, May 1) appears to suggest is happening.
Civic activists per se come from all walks of life and have differing political loyalties they are entitled to support.
However, I would like to believe "Brian Oxley, Christopher Hawtree, Carol Ramsden and others" (myself included) could be relied on to even-handedly and very independently take to task whatever party is in power, should the need arise, as it so often has in recent years.
"By their actions shall ye know them." Watch this space.
