I am very pleased to see Connex South Central is continuing its "zero tolerance" campaign against ticket evasion (in spite of the inconvenience at peak times).
Having reaped the success of this initiative, I wonder if Connex is thinking about extending this fine concept into other areas of its service?
For example, zero tolerance on delays, cancellations, uncommunicative guards, late announcements, no announcements, grimy trains, broken seats, draughty rolling stock, late services, misplaced train crews, misplaced trains, misplaced optimism (as in, "your train should arrive in five minutes"), rickety carriages, poor excuses, no excuses, over-running engineering works (okay, that's Railtrack, I suppose), vandalised stations, dirty windows, erratic driving, overcrowded trains and unmanned stations (at peak times).
Perhaps if all these things were to be put right, people wouldn't feel it quite so necessary to evade paying.
