Having seen Brighton and Hove City Council used as the butt of a number of letters about the lack of attention to its services, it is rather nice to have had a number of calls recently complimentary to service delivery.

The grass verges are being cut nicely at regular intervals and we have a couple of chaps working for Sita doing a good job of keeping the streets swept.

At the annual dinner and dance of Mile Oak Football Club, the secretary paid tribute the ground's maintenance staff for the excellent state of their pitch and the fact they had had fewer games postponed than most other clubs in the County League - all this in a year of very bad weather.

On a number of occasions recently, attention has been paid to problems within a matter of a few hours, including damaged pavements and a trailer which was broken down and abandoned in a very dangerous spot on Mile Oak Road.

This was fully-laden with old turfs and soil and had been left by some individual for the rate-payer to pick up the bill for its removal.

Yes, it is most gratifying for members of the public to thank all those concerned. Keep up the good work, all those who are involved. It is very much appreciated.
