The cost of advertising for a new chief executive would be in the region of £100,000 (Argus, May 5).
This would be the cost of calling in experts. What is the point of having councillors elected if an all-party committee can't get together, read CVs and all other relevant information and, at least, get down to a short-list before presenting it to a full body?
It's just another cop-out so they don't have to make decisions. God knows what the cost of the elected mayor is going to be.
I bet if it was their money they would find some other way. No wonder the turn-out for local elections is at an all-time low.
