Vandals stole a hat from the statue of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, recently erected in Crowborough where the author lived for many years.
But the 17-year-old culprit was captured by a means entirely unknown to Doyle's great detective, Sherlock Holmes.
How did police track him down? By using closed circuit TV. Elementary, my dear Watson.
