Paul Cavendish could soon be paying the price for trying to put too much fizz into his relationship.

The 26-year-old has already painted his house yellow and green in tribute to his favourite lemon drink, sprayed his hair green and grown a series of lemon trees.

The DJ drinks up to 40 bottles of Fanta Icy Lemon a week and only plays records by The Lemonheads during his slots at Brighton venues.

But Paul, who admits he spends more than £30 every week on the lemon drink has now been told by his long-suffering girlfriend that he'll be dumped if he doesn't stop.

Paul started drinking bottles of the stuff during family holidays to Greece and France during his teenage years and now cannot stop.

But he has been warned he could be dumped if he continues to cover his home in the colours of his number one tipple.

He said: "I cannot help it, I love the stuff. Now, whenever I drink it, I cannot leave it at just one. I like it because it makes me think of those holidays when I had fun and when the sun was out and it was summertime.

"It does vary, the amount I spend every week. I spend about £30 a week.

"I cannot face tasting any other drink and I never drink anything hot like tea or coffee. When I do my DJ sets I play as many songs as I can with the word lemon included.

"I suppose I like the drink so much that I painted the bedroom yellow and I wanted to do the rest of the house as well. I got some little samples from B and Q and I put them up in the hall but my girlfriend flipped her lid. So I had to calm her down."

Girlfriend Jenni Svenson, 26, detests the drink and never touches a drop.

Paul plays regular slots at night spots throughout Sussex including the Life is Easy night at the Escape club in Brighton on Tuesday and Hothouse at Sussex University on Thursdays.

He said: "The crowd love it. I like to play Lemon La Vide Loca a lot and it usually gets the right reaction."

A spokesman for Fanta Lemon said: "It is refreshing to see that Mr Cavendish has obviously has discovered a real zest for life."
