EXCLUSIVE: Albion boss Micky Adams could add Fulham stalwart Simon Morgan to his title-winning squad.
Adams had preliminary talks today with his former captain at Craven Cottage.
He is keen to strengthen the Seagulls' playing staff for the Second Division next season.
Morgan, who has just been released by the First Division champions and skippered Adams' Division Three promotion squad in 1996-97, fits the bill.
Adams revealed: "There is an interest in Simon, although he is just one of the avenues I am going down.
"He has an opportunity to go back to Fulham at any time and get a job there, but he wants to continue his playing career "He missed so much of the season just gone through injury that he wants to play again."
Morgan, 34, became known as "Mister Fulham" after joining them from Leicester for £100,000 in October 1990.
The Birmingham-born midfielder or central defender scored 56 goals in 422 appearances for the Londoners, including three promotions and a relegation.
Morgan, capped twice at England under-21 level, helped them lift the Second Division title in 1999.
A serious knee injury restricted him to a nostalgic farewell appearance as a late substitute in the Fulham team taken to the Premiership this season by Jean Tigana.
Morgan, speaking on the Fulham web site, said: "I feel I have at least one more season left and I would always regret it if I retired now.
"When I snapped my cruciate ligament last September I honestly thought I would never play again, so at the moment I feel I have been reprieved and must make the most of this new chance."
Goalkeeper Mark Cartwright, one of the Albion players released by Adams, has been offered a one-year contract by Shrewsbury after a successful trial.
