Short messaging services (SMS) have become one of the fastest-growing methods of communication in recent years.
The Brighton and Hove Virtual Festival, sponsored by thisisbrightonandhove.co.uk, is holding a free event tomorrow evening exploring this growing cultural phenomenon used by banks, games companies and mobile phone owners throughout the world.
Mark Fitzgerald, from SMS provider WapMX.com, will speak at the event, titled SMS: All Your Questions Answered.
WapMX is helping to power the current brightonhaiku.com project, sending a poem a day to subscribers' mobile phones as part of the festival.
Mr Fitzgerald will explain the size and scope of the current SMS possibilities and look forward to the potential for the service.
The event will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm, at the Lighthouse Cinema, Brighton Media Centre, Middle Street, Brighton.
