More good news for the resort is the opening of a new paddling pool and children's play area next to the West Pier.
The redevelopment of Brighton seafront between the piers has been one of the local success stories of the past decade.
But it has been primarily for adults and the one amenity solely for children, the old paddling pool, has been closed.
This new development looks highly attractive with plenty to amuse children and their parents.
It should appeal to residents and is in a prominent place for many of the visitors from London and elsewhere to enjoy.
There's been a long delay in completing the project, mainly because of appalling winter weather but it's nearly ready now.
Best of all, unlike many similar ventures in other resorts, it's entirely free.
