The much-maligned cleansing contractors face great difficulties in Camelford Street because of parked cars.
Whereas residents tolerate the weekly visit of the dustcart and appreciate the problems with which the collectors have to cope, they are increasingly angered at the number of vehicles constantly being driven over the pavements and causing untold damage to these 18th-Century cottages - all for the sake of the car.
Unlike other parts of Brighton and Hove, where traffic wardens are apparently super-active, we can never entice them down here. It is a long time since we have seen a parking ticket on a car.
We might, of course, have hoped for preferential treatment since the new Brighton and Hove City Council leader is our ward councillor but his interests still remain with high-profile committees and European capitals, such mundane problems as ours being well outside his remit.
