A yachtsman needed stitches to a 2in head wound after falling from his vessel off the Sussex coast.
Eastbourne offshore lifeboat was launched to aid the Ark of Jupiter, which developed propeller trouble six miles off Sovereign Harbour.
But the lifeboat was diverted by Dover Coastguard after the skipper of the yacht Dolphin radioed saying one of his crew was injured.
The patient stayed on the yacht because of fog and choppy seas and the lifeboat towed it into port.
The man was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital.
After landing, the lifeboat re-launched to help the Ark of Jupiter, which was towed into Sovereign Harbour just before 5.30pm.
