Connex and its staff get a lot of stick, so I would like to commend the guard on the 9.20 at Portslade on Friday morning who took tremendous trouble to inform his passengers there were reserved seats on the train which would be required by a school party from Portslade to Brighton but were available until then.
On arrival at Portslade, there was no sign of the promised school party, so the guard went to look up and down Boundary Road to see if it was in sight. After waiting a further minute, he had no choice but to let the train continue, with an apology to his passengers and that the reserved seats were now free.
What a pity someone who had gone to a lot of trouble had been so let down.
