How tragic the Palace Pier management is so blinded it cares nothing for the local environment and the wishes of local residents.
This management is so terrified of any possible competition from a revived West Pier that, first of all, it changed the name to Brighton Pier in the hope that no one would realise another one exists. This has needlessly confused and irritated people. Now it has the nerve to try and block much-needed money for restoring the West Pier by saying Noble deserves equal treatment. Brighton Pier is one of the top tourist attractions in the country. Just what is Noble afraid of?
If, no thanks to this company, the West Pier is ever restored for the benefit of the town, it will have its own distinct identity and both attractions could flourish.
If the Noble management does not withdraw its objections to this much-needed help for the West Pier, I propose we boycott the Palace Pier altogether. Perhaps Brighton would be better off without it.
