I was appalled to hear the owners of the Palace Pier's decision to mount a legal challenge to the West Pier's funding. Once again, selfish and commercial motives will affect the ability of local people and visitors to enjoy a structure of national and historical importance.
The renovation of the West Pier has been delayed too long already and further delay risks the disintegration of this beautiful monument. As a Brighton and Hove resident,
I intend to boycott the Brighton Pier and call upon other residents and visitors to do the same. Perhaps this may make the litigants sit up and realise a second pier can only be good for our new city's economy.
