I have just received information about plans for narrowing the A23 approach road into Brighton, including a consultation pack. The deadline for this was April 27, 2001.
As a local hotelier, I would have thought we all would have been consulted on this matter because this decision will affect our business.
Brighton and Hove City Council's transport policy seems to discourage tourism in the city and therefore our livelihood. We strongly disagree with this plan. It is short sighted, non-commercial and out of sympathy with the real needs of our vibrant city. Our hotel guests need to be able to come to the city if they choose to do so.
We hope the council will reconsider and consult other tourism-related businesses.
