Barns Green chairman Jon Filby is among those of you enjoying the coverage of local cricket in both the Argus and Sports Argus.
But he took slight exception to our description of how Barns Green "tottered" to 116-8 in last week's draw with Arundel. Jon said: "My version would read Arundel scored 158 in 55 overs against Barns Green, leaving the visitors just 37 overs to chase victory. After an opening partnership of 86 between Nick Woodward (65) and Roger Southgate, Green looked set for victory but a dramatic collapse meant they had to settle for a draw at 116-8. "I imagine you get the picture."
George Digweed has been at it again. The bowler who took 8-0 while playing for Pett against Ashburnham in a Hastings Midweek Cup tie two years ago claimed 5-48 for Brooklands in a midweek game against Rye, the feature of which was an all-bowled hat-trick.
Bill Anthony's moment of glory was spoiled when he was dismissed with scores level as Balcombe successfully chased Newchapel's 245-8 in the Wisdom Cup. Anthony had scored 119, putting on 191 for the second wicket with Bob Newcombe, but he departed before the winning runs were struck.
His team-mates may think otherwise but Matthew Savage had a day to remember for Lewes St Michael's against Glynde in the East Sussex League last Saturday. Although St Michael's lost by 85 runs, 16-year-old Savage scored his maiden half century in adult cricket with a knock of 51 not out.
Tony Collins has benefited from his own coaching and made his first ever ton to follow the 78 scored the week before last. Tony, who is in his 16th season with the club, is coach to the club's under-14s and made 104 against Ifield III.
Poor Jerry White saw his 134 not out against St Mathias slip through the net in last week's edition. He searched for his knock on the honours board - but unfortunately it had been omitted. But here's a mention now, Jerry, and our apologies.
Dormansland will be kicking themselves after collapsing to 81-8 as they chased 136 against Kent side Flimwell. Dormansland almost pulled off a remarkable National Village League Cup win as the last three batsmen played well. But they fell 11 runs short of a remarkable win.
Two hat-tricks were achieved in the Pulborough U-16s versus Horsham Trinity match in the Royal and Sun Alliance League. First Ashley Jefferies grabbed a hat-trick, all bowled, in his 5-16 and then Sam Cushing grabbed a hat-trick for Trinity, again all bowled.
South Bersted & Bognor cruised to easiest victory of last weekend in a Sussex Invitation League match against Broadbridge Heath. They won by ten wickets after Broadbridge Heath had been dismissed for just 48 in 40 overs. A staggering slow run-rate.
Gibson brothers Mark and John scored centuries in consecutive balls for Cuckfield in their Mid Sussex League Wisdom Cup first round win against Cowfold. Mark retired on 101 and ironically his brother lost his wicket on the same score as Cuckfield posted 365-6.
