Richard Freshwater has extended his lead in the BEMSEE club's Powerbike Series.

The 26-year-old from Peacehaven enjoyed another consistent weekend in the latest round at Snetterton.

Freshwater failed to win a race but he extended his lead in the series from ten to 28 points.

He said: "It was a good weekend. I am riding for the championship, keeping it consistent and getting top three results virtually every race."

Freshwater finished second in the first race, setting the fastest lap of the race in process and knocking over two seconds off his previous best time for the circuit.

In the second race he was running in second place again before running off the track. He rejoined and managed to salvage sixth spot.

In the two races on the following day, Freshwater claimed third in the morning and second in the afternoon.

It was a mixed weekend for Freshwater's team-mate Gus Robbins, from Hastings.

Robbins suffered braking problems in the first two races and had to settle for two 14th places.

In the third race of the weekend his gearbox packed up but repairs were done in time for the final race and, despite having to start from the back of the grid, Robbins carved through the field to record an excellent fourth place.

Freshwater and Robbins return to action at Rockingham, near Corby, on June 23-24 in a combined Bemsee/MRO Supersport meeting.
