For nearly two years, Tomboy has been tickling our funny bones with a succession of irreverent cartoons.

They may have offended some people but the fun-poking has been taken with good humour by many of Tomboy's targets.

Estate agent Glenn Mishon was so chuffed with his caricature he bought the original drawing.

Now Tomboy, real name Alex Hallatt, will be moving on to create a full-length cartoon strip.

It should prove a wonderful addition to the paper, tickling even more funny bones than the one-off cartoons.

Like Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert or Striker in the national tabloids, Alex's strip could become a part of the paper people turn to before anything else.

Ooh, saucy!
