Coping with the terrible pain of bereavement is one of the hardest things anyone has to do - especially when it involves the loss of a child.

For a parent, the death of a child must seem like the end of the world. The grief must be unbearable, with all sense of happiness shattered and all hopes for the future undermined.

Anything that worsens this sense of loss must seem even more unfair. So for the parents of three-month-old Justin Davies, who died of cot death, the state of his grave is a terrible blow.

Anyone grieving knows a gravestone is the last thing left on Earth to commemorate their precious memories.

For some it is a place to find peace, for others a place to vent rage. Every gravestone is vitally important to the family of the person buried there.

Those who manage graveyards must make it a number one priority to keep the graves in good condition.
