Selmeston grabbed the top spot in the Cuckmere Valley League after a dramatic victory over high-flying Firle with one ball to spare.

A 64 from John Stephens, as Colin Filtness took 2-11, helped Firle to 162-9 but Adrian Burden's 61 and David Clark's 42 guided the visitors towards the target with Richard Gravett (2-38) returning the best figures but unable to prevent a narrow victory.

Alfriston are the new team in second place following their 31-run win over Withyham in which they made 152-6 thanks in part to Matthew Jackson (43) and Ali Batchelor (40). Phil Adams hit 34 but the visitors fell for 121 as Chris Bloomer took 3-31.

Bells Yew Green stay in fourth after Burwash Weald collapsed from 55-2 to 67 all out as Chris Fox (5-8) and Dominic Bowen (4-5) wreaked havoc. The target was overhauled in 27 overs for an eight-wicket win.

A depleted Nutley called in four 15-year-olds against East Dean, and they had a torrid time along with the rest of the team as the visitors amassed 203-5 with Mike Dixon (68) leading the way. Nutley were skittled out for 60 as Tim Woodward returned 3-13.

Preston Village put on 125 against Blackboys with Seruais Defreitas hitting 48. In eply, the visitors cruised home with Matthew Bradford scoring 59 not out.

Priory Ruins have dropped out of division two of the league.
