Retired colonial police officer Basil Arrowsmith thinks contestants on TV show Survivor are making mountains out of molehills.
He spent years tracking down pirates and murderers on the wild island of Pulau Tiga, near Borneo, where the current ITV series is being filmed.
During his time there he was hailed a hero by locals after he tracked down a band of Filipino pirates who killed a Chinese shopkeeper.
While the contestants might feast on maggots as a test of endurance, he happily ate leaves and wild deer as a way of life.
