Crowhurst Park withdrew their former Barbados international Victor Walcott out of the bowling attack as they romped to a 136 run win over Rye on Saturday.
However, it is unlikely leaders Ringmer will receive the same generosity when the two sides clash this weekend.
Park, promoted as winners of East Sussex League division two last season, harbour championship aspirations again and produced a devastating display to keep the early pressure on top team Ringmer, who they take on at The Green in four days' time.
Last season's champions, Chiddingly, also won on Saturday and Park wicketkeeper Lawrence Coleman believes that this trio will still be in the frame come the end of the season.
Coleman said: "I think eventually there will be a gap between us three sides and the rest.
"We have Ringmer this weekend and although there is a long way to go, they will not want to lose to us that's for sure."
Put into bat, Park's Mike Pannett (84 not out) and Martin Barry (58) put on 96 for the first wicket and then Pannett and skipper Michael Legg (67 not out) capitalised on a catalogue of fielding errors as an impressive 234-2 target was racked up.
A hostile spell from paceman Walcott reaped 3-21 as Rye collapsed to 98 all out.
Coleman said: "We could not bowl Victor in the end as it could have been dangerous and the rest of the bowlers did the job."
Ringmer maintained their 100 per cent record as they overcame some late order resistance from Herstmonceux to take victory. Ringmer made 214-8 with Glynn Crees (47) and Peter Mullins (45) top scoring as Dale Mayhew took 3-68.
In reply, Herst progressed to 50-2 before stumbling to 55-8 but a valiant rearguard action from Greg Watson and Alan Smith, who put on 75 for the ninth wicket, nearly saved them from defeat.
However, the return of Graham Pitts with only four overs remaining saw the demise of Smith, and Ringmer skipper Gary Holder wrapped up the match with figures of 8-47, which included a spell of 5-0 to destroy the hosts' middle order.
Holder is looking forward to the visit of Crowhurst Park. He said: "We know Chiddingly inside out and Fletching are a good solid, experienced side but we none of us really know much about Park.
"It will be an interesting game and I think we will know how good they really are after they have met both us, Chiddingly and Fletching."
Chiddingly's Simon Baillie-Hamilton took 4-26 as hosts Newick were bowled out for 138, and the target was reached comfortably for a six-wicket win as Darren Howard (36) and Tim Hinchcliffe (35 not out) led the way.
Fletching's new addition Mark Smallwood hit 66 and Terry Lucas 48 as they made 210-6 (John Atkinson 3-20) against Ditchling, who held on for a draw as Matthew Searle cracked 74 despite the attentions of Matthew Hoadley (3-27).
Wadhurst were in trouble at 53-7 but Australian Geoff Teyes led a sparkling revival as he hit 86 to take them to 156 all out with DPB's James Bentley recording superb figures of 9-72. DPB should have picked up a win but, pegged back by Jim Harwood (4-56), man-of-the-match Bentley's unbeaten 47 and 40 by Richard Horne were not enough as they stuttered to 151-6 for a draw.
There were some big knocks, and a big shock, in division two where early leaders Battle were beaten by seven wickets by Rottingdean. Battle made 119 with Wood taking 3-11 and Rottingdean cruised home.
Teenager James Haywood hit 112 in Heathfield Park's 197 as George Hollis (5-45) and Joe Wheatley (4-58) returned good figures while, after tea, Barcombe finished on 190-9 in a tense finish with Rob Jenner making 72.
Bottom side Iden's Phil Shanks hit 102 as they amassed 190 (Matthew Savage 4-15) and Lewes St Michael's fell for 74 in reply with Paul Barnett picking up 7-33 and Martin Curd 3-35.
Buxted Park frustrated Seaford as they batted to a draw after seeing their hosts amass a daunting 237-4 with John Reynolds making 71, A. Weller 63 not out and Clive Chipper 55. In reply, Brian Huxley, who wanted to get away early, moved from No. 11 bat into No. 5 spot but then hung around with 26 as Park finished on 123-9 (John Smith 5-32).
Jon Armitage (96) led St Peters to 230-4 and Glynde replied with 219-8 as Dave Proctor (49) and Gary Baker Jnr 37 not out batted well.
Division three: Beaulieu 164-6 (Dave Ivins 69, Steve Lucent 3-42) lost to Little Common Ramblers 165-4 (Pete Winchester 60, Ali Burnett 43no); Hellingly 116-3 (Rob Pye 47no, James Wise 35) beat Polegate and Stone Cross 115 all out (Rob Warner 38, Vince Woolley 4-22, Mark Underhill 3-24); Pett 188-9 (Steve Crisford 60, John Osborn 35, G. Hayes 4-50) drew with Uckfield Anderida 116-9 (Peter Holman 45, John Osborn 5-19, Andy Goodsell 4-13); Pevensey 141-1 (James Wallis 79no, Jon Smith 37no) beat Tunbridge Wells Borderers 140 (Mark Eason 55, Paul Nunney 4-34, Nick Lewis 3-34); Rotherfield 200 (Nick Rowe 48, Chris Buck 36, Steve Watts 5-48) drew with Maresfield 129-9 (Stuart Chappell 32, Jamie Featherbee 4-52).
Division four: Glynde II 152-8 (Joe Fingerneissl 44, Tim Jeffrey 4-43) beat Wadhurst II 151 (Richard Barber 3-30, Tom Crook 3-32); Newhaven 84-3 (Rohan Pooley 43no) beat Hailsham 83 (Mark Gent 37, Dave Bennett 5-19); Willingdon 199-9 (S. Fuller 86, Allan Hughes 3-49) drew with Robertsbridge 205-9 (Mark Steadman 76, Gareth Hughes 41, Nick Thompson 5-53, Mark Simmonds 4-35); Ringmer beat Dicker Butterfly 214 all out.
