Publicans who rip off their regulars could be caught out by the introduction of a new device later this year.
Trading standards officers will experiment with a device called Robo-nose which can tell instantly whether spirits have been adulterated.
No wonder it's backed enthusiastically by the producers of spirits. But for fiddling bar- tenders it will prove to be a dram nuisance.
