Albion chairman Dick Knight has poured more than £1.3 million into the club.

The extent of Knight's financial commitment to the Seagulls is disclosed in the company's annual accounts.

By the end of June last year he had loaned the club £1,387,500.

The accounts also show contributions of £500,000 from Derek Chapman, £460,000 by Ray Bloom and £130,000 from Bob Pinnock.

Chapman, managing director of Portslade-based building company Adenstar Developments, joined the Board two years ago.

The Argus revealed on Saturday that Adenstar are set build Albion's proposed new stadium at Falmer.

Bloom rejoined the Board at the same time as Chapman, while Pinnock is the financial director and a lifelong friend of the chairman. Since June 2000 the directors have pumped in another £210,000.

The accounts also reveal that "other investors" have paid in a further £450,000.

Knight remains the biggest single shareholder with 36.47 per cent. Former chairman Bill Archer still has 33 per cent, Chapman and Bloom 13.33 each, Pinnock 3.2 and chief executive Martin Perry 0.67.

The figures are unaffected by the appointment to the Board a year ago of Burgess Hill-born businessman Kevin Griffiths.

Griffiths, 34, invested £500,000 in June 1999, but he is not a shareholder. Sir John Smith is no longer a non-executive director of the club. He resigned last November.
