A man broke his arm when an attacker pushed him to the ground and kicked him as he shouted homophobic abuse, a court heard yesterday.
Taxi driver Robert Cowdroy told how he was kicked about the head, face and body during the assault at Duke's Mound, Brighton, on June 4 last year. He was not sure how many men had taken part in the beating, Lewes Crown Court heard.
Mr Cowdroy was left with two broken bones in one arm, two black eyes, a cut on the head and extensive bruising, the court heard. His injuries were so severe he was kept in hospital for three days.
Richard Stapleton, 24, of Merevale, Hollingdean, Brighton, denies causing grievous bodily harm during the assault.
