Two senior police officers from Brighton and Hove are to swap jobs.

Superintendent Graham Cox, currently in charge of Hove, is to become second in command at Brighton.

Brighton second in command, Superintendent Peter Cole, will take charge of Hove.

Superintendent Andy Bliss will stay in charge at Brighton.

The changes will remain in place until the divisions merge into a single city force on March 31.

Mr Cox said he and Mr Cole would bring the best of the work they had been doing to their new divisions.

Mr Cox has been credited with changing the face of policing in Hove.

Initiatives introduced have included putting more uniformed officers on patrol and bringing back police horses.

Mr Cox said: "I am being moved to Brighton where my brief will be to continue the work we have started in Hove. My counterpart will replace me and bring the best of Brighton's policies with him.

"It will help the transition to a single city police force take place more smoothly."
