A new sport and restaurant complex is set to bring dozens of new jobs to Eastbourne.
Council bosses last night approved plans for a health and fitness centre and nursery with eight classrooms.
Two drive-in restaurants, a car wash, 192-vehicle parking and a service area are also proposed for a site near the Shinewater roundabout, at the junction of Willingdon Drove and the A22.
The fitness centre will include a swimming pool, creche, bar, changing rooms, showers, sauna, spa and a range of fitness machines.
Outline planning permission was granted in February and borough councillors last night approved the application in full.
The proposals attracted little objection from residents but the Environment Agency said it would cause unacceptable ecological impact.
Tory Councillor Patrick Bowker, chairman of the planning and licensing committee, said: "It was felt that it was a reasonable application which I'm sure will bring plenty of jobs to the area."
