Referring back to the recent letters and the question of whether planning consent should have been sought or obtained in respect of the proposed chalk white hawk in Brighton (August 23), I wonder whether Brighton and Hove City Council should have applied to itself for consent to erect the numerous parking ticket machines now polluting our pavements, particularly in conservation areas.
It is well known even for the slightest alteration to the external appearance of a building necessary planning consent is now required by the council.
I would have thought this should also apply to parking ticket machines. Is it the case these appliances are exempt from planning consent?
