Burgess Hill are still on the lookout for a striker despite smashing six goals past last season's Wessex League runners-up Lymington and New Milton in the FA Cup.

The Hillians were due at Ryman League Tooting and Mitcham today in the FA Cup with confidence high after the success at the Linnets' Fawcett's Field home last Saturday.

Tim Brown (two), Steve Harper, Ashley Carr and Richard Carter (two) were all on target as Linnets were humbled 6-0 but Hillians boss Gary Croydon still has a goalscorer on his wanted list.

Croydon said: "We have put in a seven-day approach for Darren Kilpartrick at Wick but I still think we are still light up front.

"Although we are scoring goals we are still in the market for a frontrunner and want to hear from anyone who wants to join us even after us spanking Lymington 6-0."

The Hillians' emphatic win in New Milton will have raised a few eyebrows in non-league circles.

Like the Hillians, Linnets enjoyed success in the late Nineties, winning the Wessex League title three years in succession but also carrying the league's standard on FA Vase adventures into the latter stages. The past two seasons saw them relegated to runners-up in the league.

The result was all the more surprising as Hillians' pre-match preparations were thrown into disarray after it took them five hours to make the journey to Hampshire and the kick-off was delayed to 3.30pm.

The boss of table-topping Ringmer has been quick to highlight the contribution of his side's young players to the Blues' great start.

Manager Glen Geard said: "There are a lot of youngsters at the club which is something I have tried to do since I've been at Ringmer. We have some talented boys out there and it all bodes well for the future."

Geard, who made one appearance for Brighton in 1979, singled out 19-year-old Wesley Lopez for praise.

He said: "Wesley's a very talented lad - there's no stopping the boy. He could hit the heights, it's entirely up to him. I said to him I'd like to help him and if he could move to bigger and better things I'd be happy for him. He could make it as a professional - he's got the ability. The thing is when you go to professional clubs you have to have the ability for them to work with. Ability wise, he's one of the most talented boys I've seen in the county for many years."

Southwick boss Bob Hitchcock gave debuts to two youth team players in the 3-1 win at Hailsham on Monday. Midfielder Grant Crosby and Lawrence Edwards both got runouts.
