Warren Waugh hit an injury-time winner to help Crawley maintain their fine start with a 2-1 Premier Division win at Tiverton.

Waugh netted his third goal of the season two minutes into stoppage time to end plucky Tiverton's resistance.

Reds boss Billy Smith said: "Warren took his goal superbly and I thought the win was deserved after some important decisions had gone against us earlier in the game.

"We don't mind scrapping for the points, and that's what we had to do as Tiverton also had their chances to have won the game."

Waugh was superb and Jimmy Dack also impressed in his first full start since his return to the club. Danny Carroll again played a key role for the Reds and, although home goalkeeper Paul Edwards kept out his goalbound effort after just five minutes, he soon found the net.

A fine flicked header from Warren Bagnall set Carroll on his way in the 20th minute and Carroll made no mistake.

Tiverton equalised after 36 minutes. Carroll was penalised for a foul on Paul Chenoweth, and Kevin Nancekivell rifled home from the spot.

Waugh twice went close before the break but Tiverton had Reds on the rack after the interval with striker Antony Lynch squandering a series of chances, while Keith Sharman and Stewart Holmes cleared off their goalline.

Carroll also wasted two good chances and Andy Little had to save superbly from Steven Ovens before Reds midfielder Steve Sargent provided the ball for Waugh to fire a clinical winner.
