I congratulate those responsible for the new parking enforcement regime in Brighton and Hove.
As a pedestrian and cyclist, I have already noticed a reduction in illegal and dangerous parking, making the city centre a safer and more pleasant place to be.
Those who criticise strong enforcement of parking regulations are basically saying motorists need only obey the law when it is convenient and that road traffic offences are not really that important.
This is not the case in a country where just under ten people are killed and 110 people are seriously injured every day on the roads.
Road rules are there to save lives and the more strictly they are enforced the better.
