The Goodwood Motor Revival meeting on September 14, 15 and 16 has brought about a change in date for the next two horse race fixtures on the Downs above the tarmac circuit.

Instead of a two-day meeting, Goodwood races on the next two Wednesdays, September 12 and 19.

Principal event on the first day is the Group Three Select Stakes, a ten-furlong event with £40,000 added money. The race has been won by horses such as Dancing Brave, Most Welcome, Mtoto and Singspiel and champion hurdler Alderbrook.

Nayef, winter favourite for this year's Guineas and Derby, is likely to be in the line-up following his third at the course in July in the Peugeot Gordon Stakes.

The final of the Bollinger Champagne Amateur Riders' Series on September 19 will be a feature of the seven-race programme.

First race post time on both days is 2.15pm.

Lewes-born trainer Michael Jarvis, who as a stable lad led up Charlottetown at Epsom prior to that horse's success in the 1966 Derby, has been enjoying a brilliant season at the highest level.

He sent out Morshdi to win the Group One Grosser Preis at Baden Baden last Sunday and Holding Court, winner of last year's French Derby, won the Group One Grand Prix at Deauville.

Now Morshdi, who won Europe's third richest race, the Italian Derby, in May, is a serious contender for the Prix de l'arc de Triomphe early in October.

His filly Ameerat, owned like Morshdi by Sheikh Ahmed al Maktoum, gave Jarvis a first British classic success when taking the 1,000 Guineas in the spring.
