Who said you cannot win anything with kids?

Kingston Village II fielded a handful of youth players in their away match against Kings Head of Lewes in the Worthing Sunday League Division Three and won 10-0!

Sixteen-year-old Richard March scored SIX on his debut despite being substituted on the hour.

Richard was "taken out" and left the pitch early, otherwise he thinks he might have had more.

Afterwards Richard was not too upset about his injury. He said: "It was my best game ever, the team were great and they gave me lots of chances.

"I wouldn't mind playing them every week. I can't remember all of the goals but the best was my fourth, when I ran the length of the pitch to score. They had a corner and the ball was cleared to me on the edge of the box.

"I beat a couple of players and ran with it to the other box and slotted it in. I got one with my left foot and the rest were with my right."

Richard confessed he felt he had been deliberately fouled because of his scoring exploits.

He admitted: "I got taken out when I knocked the ball past a player and he gave me a dead leg. I would have liked to have played on but I couldn't. I think I could have scored a couple more."

The centre forward said the goals had boosted his confidence and raised his ambitions for the season.

He added: "I want to get at least double figures and I'd like to get in the Kingston first team."

Boss Ray Harrison could scarcely conceal his delight with the youngster.

He said: "It is typical of Richard, he is full of energy and he deserved it. He works very hard although he had to come off ten minutes after half-time because he had a dead leg.

"He didn't want to come off initially and tried to play on. But as soon as he popped in the sixth goal he said he wanted to come off. Whatever happens now, he will enjoy the rest of the season."

March was clearly the star of the show, but Harrison was quick to praise the overall team effort.

He said: "It was nice for the boys to start off with a win. Most of the team are from the under-16 side and they were a bit nervous about how things were going to turn out.

They all equipped themselves well and we can't wait for the next game now."
