A driver narrowly escaped injury after his car was hit by a pellet from an airgun.
Police say if it had gone through the driver's window of the green Mondeo he may have been seriously injured.
The incident took place at 1.30pm yesterday at the junction of Mill Road and Station Road, Hailsham.
It is the second report of a crime involving an airgun or rifle in a week.
A woman walking her dog in Ambleside Park, Peacehaven, was shot in the leg by a youth aged about 12 last Tuesday.
Police say details of the second incident are sketchy and no weapon was seen.
A police spokesman said: "We ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."
