Doormen were attacked with pepper spray outside a nightclub after refusing entry to a woman.
The assault took place outside the Zap Club on Brighton seafront just before midnight yesterday.
The doormen were arguing with the woman about letting her into the club when one of them suddenly felt a burning sensation in his eye.
A spokesman for Brighton police said: "The door supervisor received swelling to his eye and lip but did not require hospital treatment."
A 24-year-old Brighton woman was arrested following the incident and received a caution for common assault and Section 5 firearms offence.
