Scenes reminiscent of the 1984 IRA bombing of the Grand Hotel appeared in Brighton yesterday.
Firefighters carried out mock rescues using dummies in case the hotel was being targeted by terrorists during the Labour Party conference that starts on October 1.
Sussex Police are on high alert following the terrorist attacks in America and all leave has been cancelled.
A brigade spokesman said: "Hopefully, we will not be called into action during the conference."
