A father is offering a reward to help catch attackers who left his son for dead.
Timothy John, 43, was found by friends unconscious outside the White Hart pub in Horsebridge after the England-Germany football match on September 1.
He suffered a fractured skull and swelling to the brain but is now recovering at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
His father, Karl John, said his son had managed to string together enough words to indicate he was attacked.
Mr John is putting up a £1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of his son's attackers.
Mr John, of Vicarage Lane, Hailsham, said: "It has got to be the right information. I don't want people just phoning up with anyone's name.
"My concern is for my son and his health. But at the back of my mind there is also catching whoever did this to him."
Mr John added: "Tim is improving slowly. He was only saying one word, but now he is saying sentences, although a lot of them do not make sense.
"Tim has said several things to me which convince me absolutely he was attacked. There is no question in my mind."
Police have not confirmed if they are treating the case as an assault but are appealing for witnesses.
