Worthing boss Sammy Donnelly will take no action against two of his key players, despite an amazing on-field row.

Things got heated between Ben Carrington and Stuart Tuck midway through the second half in Tuesday's dramatic 3-2 home win over Uxbridge.

Carrington caused chaos among the visiting defence all evening, setting up two Gavin Geddes goals before hitting the winner himself.

Tuck was his usual combative self at the back, operating alongside Andrew Beech in a 4-4-2 lineup.

Donnelly was amazed by the argument, which saw Tuck remove his shirt in disgust before being calmed down by the referee and shown the yellow card.

The Rebels boss said: "Both players were getting frustrated and very agitated. They are both good talkers and sometimes these things happen.

"I don't think there was any more in it and I am not taking it any further. I put it down to the passion of the two players. They want to do well for the club.

"I was so disturbed after what had seen on the television news on Tuesday that in my team talk, tried to get them to go out, relax and enjoy their football.

Then look what happened." Carrington was a constant menace to the Uxbridge defence and scored the winner from a free-kick which he had won himself.

The award led to consternation between most of the two teams, leading to the dismissal of Mark Burt and Chris Moore. Donnelly added: "Sometimes Ben does not know what he is doing but I would always have him in my side because he is a real handful."

A controversial night was rounded off by a red card for Uxbridge's Stuart Bamford and the sight of visiting players attempting to continue the arguments with home fans after the final whistle.

All of which overshadowed some of the events going on away from the pitch as Rebels look to cut costs following their FA Cup defeat.

Andy Alexander, a powerfully built youngster, was recalled from Shoreham and did a solid job with Burt in central midfield while Danny Davis and Lee Weston provided guile outside.

Fifteen-year-old Jordan Rhodes, a striker for whom Donnelly has high hopes, was on the bench.

Marc Rice started a three-match ban today and Burt also faces suspension, although Worthing insist he was head-butted in Tuesday's altercation.

Paul Kennett, Danny Smith and Darren Baxter are expected to return in the next week or two but Damian Webber is out of favour.

Donnelly admits players will be asked to take a cut in money and this week saw Lee Cox join Glen Geard at Ringmer.
