Two men killed in separate road accidents were named today by police.

A 33-year-old man who died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car was named as Graeme Scott, of Soloman's Close, Eastbourne.

Mr Scott died at the scene of the accident in Wartling Road, Pevensey, on Sunday morning.

In the other accident, pensioner Roy Pickett, 73, of Southfields, Polegate, died when his car was in collision with a 32-ton lorry in Eastbourne Road, Polegate, on Saturday.

The driver of the lorry, a 53-year-old man from Worthing, was not injured.

Mr Pickett was a postman in the Eastbourne area for nearly 40 years. He leaves a wife, Betty, daughter Pauline and grandchildren Maria, 24, and Kerry-Ann, 21.

Mrs Pickett said: "All he lived for was his family. We are all going to miss him very much."

"He started working at the Post Office when my daughter was 15 but he had other jobs. He was a road mender and worked for Southdown buses as well. He retired from the Post Office because he fell and injured his spine.

"He drove his car and we went on holidays, The only thing he couldn't do was go on walks. But nothing would stop him getting about, although he was sometimes in pain.

"He used to collect post cards of all the villages around here and used to do stamp and badge collecting as well."

Police are appealing for witnesses to both accidents. Anyone with information is asked to ring 0845 6070999.
