Albion manager Micky Adams is "disappointed" that the Seagulls are top of the table.

He brought his players and the fans back down to earth with a bump today by warning against unrealistic expectations.

Tuesday's stoppage time triumph over Stoke took Albion a point clear of Colchester.

They have the chance to cement their position by recording a 12th home League win on the trot against beleaguered Bournemouth at Withdean on Saturday.

"If I said I was slightly disappointed at being top that would be an under-statement, but we will take it," Adams declared.

"I am not going to get carried away with it and I don't want the supporters to.

"We are there to be shot at now and sometimes when you are top it can affect you. I hope it doesn't affect us.

"Bournemouth is a local derby and I am sure they will want to show what a good team they are.

"I watched them against Bury last Saturday and they played particularly well, so it will be a difficult game."

Bournemouth were pulverised 6-0 at Peterborough on Tuesday and have only three teams below them.

But Albion defender Simon Morgan said: "What happened to us and Bournemouth on Tuesday and the fact that we are top of the League doesn't mean a thing.

"It's going to be another difficult game. The crowd will turn up expecting us to win comfortably. Unfortunately it's not going to be like that."

Morgan will continue his ever-present record at the heart of the defence, despite needing three stitches in a cut above his nose against Stoke.

"It was just a flashing elbow that caught me," said the former Fulham stalwart. "It will take more than that to shake me up."

Albion Reserves lost 2-1 in a friendly at Millwall yesterday.

Young striker Chris McPhee scored for a side which included senior professionals Andy Crosby, Robbie Pethick, Dirk Lehmann and Steve Melton.

Millwall forward Neil Harris continued his comeback from testicular cancer.
