Our flight home to the US on Virgin Airlines was turned back to Gatwick on September 11 because of the World Trade Centre disaster.
Airline personnel suggested we stay in Brighton until flights were available for our return. Our experience in Brighton shall forever be in our hearts.
The kind words and help Brighton citizens extended to us were incredible.
From John and Melanie Duggin, who provided lodging at the Rockhaven Hotel and opened their home to us, the American Express office personnel, the restaurants that gave us discounts, the pharmacist who provided help in getting medication, the people at the laundramat and, most important, to the many concerned folks and passers-by who expressed their sympathies for those less fortunate back home - your hospitality, kind words and deeds will never be forgotten.
We returned home on September 17 with our lives forever enriched by our experience in Brighton. God bless.
