Eastbourne Town were left fuming after the referee sprung a surprise extra time period after a goalless draw in their Vase tie at Sandhurst.
Town's players were getting changed and tucking into sandwiches after the drawn match when the referee told them they had to play another half-hour. The ref had earlier advised both sides there would be no extra-time.
Sean Brockwell had the ball in the net near the end of the extra period but play had been stopped for an Eastbourne free-kick.
Town boss Dave Winterton was shown the red card in the ensuing arguments and Sandhurst grabbed their winner soon after.
Assistant boss Alan Walshe was furious. He said: "It was a fiasco. We took important players off towards the end of 90 minutes to give the subs a game. The ref admitted he made a mistake when he disallowed our goal but it has cost us a place in the next round."
Hassocks cantered to a 3-0 home win over Chipstead. Jamie Graham's opener was a routine effort from a scramble but James Laing followed it with a spectacular flying header. Steve Wilkins wrapped things up. Selsey ground out a 1-0 win at Fareham Town.
Paul Lee unselfishly set up a simple finish for Lee Stevens and Ollie Rowland's super finish earned Whitehawk a 1-0 home win over Lymington. He lobbed the goalkeeper after latching on to Karim Djelassi's through ball.
Oakwood were delighted to win 4-1 at East Preston in their first away game, though late dismissals for Paul Green and Adam Simpson, along with an EP defender, took a little gloss off it. The visitors produced four super finishes. Simpson hit the first, Dave O'Donnell guided a free-kick into the top corner, Gerald Manville raced clear and finished coolly and substitute Craig Belgrave belted a 20-yarder.
Nick Loversidge's early strike was enough to see Wick through at home to Slade Green.
Southwick led 2-0 at BAT through headers by Justin Cole and Jason Tighe before losing 3-2. Arundel were crushed 5-1 by Banstead, Sam Wincell scoring their goal, and Eastbourne United went down 3-0 at home to Bracknell.
Dave Odongo put Redhill ahead in extra-time at Farnham but they lost 2-1.
Ben Burns scored a late goal for East Grinstead in 4-1 defeat at Thatcham while Hailsham went out 3-1 to Corinthian Casuals.
Two goals in injury time by Jamie Laidlaw and Roger Moore gave Chichester City United a shock 3-1 win at Ryman League division two side Horsham. Paul Thomas put them ahead after 55 minutes but Eddie French headed the Hornets level in the last minute.
Lewes scored a 1-0 win at Wantage thanks to a goal by Dominic Shepherd.
