The big guns all got off to impressive starts in Sussex One.
Chichester, Heathfield, Horsham and Hastings are expected to fight it out for title honours and they piled up 199 points between them.
Local pride was intact for Chichester after their 37-6 defeat of UC Chichester.
Tim Rogers marked his return to the club with two tries and there were scores for brothers Tim and Tom Polhill, Liam O'Hagan and Nigel Turner, although Chi were just as pleased with keeping their line intact.
Fullback Fraser Tussler was man-of-the-match with two tries as Horsham beat Hellingly 43-28, although they only put their game together in the final quarter.
Coach Martin Lawrence admitted: "I don't really want to be firing on all cylinders at this stage."
Andy Stone, Micky Clay and Rob Dowling were all among the tries with Paul Thurston kicking well.
Excellent support play from Heathfield hooker Tom Gribble brought him three tries in the 63-0 home win over Rye.
Coach Herb Merritt was not overly pleased with events. He said: "We won an embarrassment of ball but were too loose when we tried to use it."
James Dimmack, Tim Evans, Simon Wilson and Julian Wates were also on the scoresheet.
Ben Campbell completed a hat-trick in Hastings' 56-22 win at St Francis. Neil Redman (2), Steve Kimber (2), Andy Hitch and Robin Bradbury crossed and Paul Sandeman added three conversions and a penalty. Front five men Andy Dalton and Jim Nichols impressed in their first game out of the colts.
Crowborough, who opened with a 46-0 defeat of Sussex Police, could be promotion dark horses. Paul Gray, Bruce Brooker and Ian Gilbert scored first half tries, then No. 8 Steve McCabe powered over for a hat-trick.
Old Brightonians beat Robertsbridge 51-24 in Sussex Two East with tries from Dougie Edmonds (2), Vic Heal (2), Gerald Bush (2), Mark Dodd and Saul Green. Nick Casey converted four and added a penalty.
Robertsbridge improved after the break and scored tries through William Pugh-Jones (2), Chris Perry and Matt Jackson.
Seaford start as favourites to win this division. Newick kept them at bay for a while but were eventually crushed 51-0 at The Salts with scores coming from Danny Newby (2), Andy Booth (2), James Anderson (2), Andy Gunstone and Simon Baker. Burgess Hill had a 21-19 win over Ditchling with Dave Webb and Tony Garrard crossing.
BA Wingspan's 27-17 win at Arun in Sussex Two West was marred by a broken leg for Pete Burrows, who had earlier collected two tries. Peter Bell scored two tries and a conversion and Kevin Hampson got in at the corner.
Baz Brown, Will Lawes and Gary Kidner scored two tries apiece in Pulborough's 48-0 win over Midhurst.
There were local derby wins for Norfolk Arms, who beat Shoreham 20-5, and Royal and Sun Alliance, 46-3 up on Barns Green.
