Worthing are off to a flyer in their bid for the London Three South East title.
But skipper Mike Imrie admitted the big tests were yet to come after Saturday's 47-0 success at Crawley.
Back row man Jamie Newhouse crossed twice as Worthing saw off a spirited home side anxious to make up for their cup embarrassment by Petersfield a week earlier.
Imrie, who kicked three penalties and two conversions, admitted: "We would have settled for that result before the match.
"It's East Grinstead next week and we have identified that as a four-pointer.
"We have got to win matches like that if we are serious about going up this year."
Scores from Alistair Coombe, Gareth Piggott and Terry Butler, plus a penalty try, completed the tally. Tony Cruz kicked two conversions.
Andy Evans missed a couple of early penalties for Crawley but coach Steve Silver took heart from the display. He said: "We are learning by our mistakes and getting better week by week."
Bert Merritt's crackdown on discipline at Brighton brought its first tangible reward as they drew 10-10 at home to Charlton Park.
The home side were good value for their point, which they earned through wing Rob Ross's fine try and a conversion and penalty from Geraint Jones to wipe out a ten-point deficit.
They were pleased they kept their cool near the end when Charlton Park were awarded a penalty within kickable range, only to have the award reversed when one of their players threw a punch.
Coach Merritt said: "I was tickled pink with how we kept our discipline. We were even complimented by the referee at the end."
Brighton should have been ahead in the first quarter but failed to turn pressure into points.
East Grinstead lost four key men, including player/coach Ray Hennessy, in the run-up to their 30-10 home defeat by Sidcup.
Ricky Lake scored a try and Steve O'Reilly kicked a conversion and a penalty to put them 10-9 up at one stage but the visitors' experienced pack and opportune backs settled the contest.
Lewes lost 31-10 at Dunstonians, despite another decent display from their pack. Hooker Dave Foster scored their try with Huw James adding a conversion and a penalty.
Hove showed what a dangerous side they can be on their own patch with a 20-13 win over highly-rated Bognor in Four South East.
Big lock Michael Walton scored a spectacular try and there were scores for Richard Phelps and James Wilmott as Hove scored all their points in the first half.
Phil Ward kicked a penalty and a conversion and was outstanding at centre with scrum half James Finalson and flanker Kevin Long also impressing.
Andy Shipp and Jonny Lang crossed for Bognor and there was a penalty by Stuart Pearce, who had a difficult day with the boot.
Eastbourne were caught up in traffic on their way to Folkestone and quickly went 17-0 down.
A cheeky strike from scrum half Danny Craven sparked a comeback and tries from Matthew Pysden and Andy Moore, plus good kicking from Moore and Jon Groenen, clinched a valuable 30-24 win.
Uckfield went down 26-0 at Betteshanger in the battle of the newly-promoted sides.
