Brighton and Hove is to hold a fund-raising concert in aid of the victims of the American terrorist attacks.
The concert, at St Bartholomew's Church, Ann Street, just off London Road, Brighton, will feature work by American composers and will be attended by local dignitaries.
Anyone who wants to pay tribute to the victims of the attacks is invited to attend.
The concert, which was planned 18 months ago, will feature the Sussex Symphony Orchestra, which will perform works by composers Copland, Paul Carr and Leonard Bernstein.
The conductor will be Mark Andrew James.
It will feature the world premiere of Paul Carr's flute concerto Quiet City, which is dedicated to New York.
Mr James said: "This concert was planned long before the attacks. We have since turned it into a concert which will enable the people of Brighton to make a contribution to the World Trade Centre Disaster Fund.
"This is a chance for us to have a concert where the people of Brighton and Hove and Sussex can show their sympathy and support to the victims of the terrible atrocities.
"We want to make sure we fill all 900 seats in the church."
The concert, on Saturday, October 6, starts at 7.30 pm.
Tickets cost £9, or £6 concessions and are available from the Dome box office on 01273 709709.
All proceeds from the event will go to the fund set up to help the relatives and victims of the attack. There will also be a retiring collection.
